Travelogues

In late 2024-2025 I had the great privilege of being able to travel slowly. I went to Vietnam, where my parents were from, and Japan, which I had always wanted to visit. I wandered with no itinerary in a weird state between stressed and zen. We ended up spending a month in Vietnam, and two in Japan. I made a semi-weekly video journal of my experiences there, although there were so many more moments that I felt would be detracted by a camera. Many moments in the video journals are mundane; I was not trying to create a greatest hits or exaggerate my time abroad. Often not captured were great conversations, friends, interesting strangers, and so many (just the right amount) of onsens.

This was the second part of my year abroad. The first part was in Costa Rica and Guatemala, but I only have photos from that period. In that episode, I hiked to the summit of Acatenago, heard a volcano in constant eruption, waited for a bus with three uncertain youngsters who had just crossed the Darian gap, and got kicked out from my friend’s uncle’s house.
